ItsMagz (“the Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you. It applies to itsmagz.com (our website address) and any related services.
By using this Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
1. Who We Are
ItsMagz is operated by ItsMagz based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. Our website address is https://itsmagz.com. For any privacy-related questions, contact privacy@itsmagz.com.
2. Comments
When visitors leave comments on the Site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
3. Media
If you upload images to the Site, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the Site can download and extract any location data from images on the Site.
4. Cookies
If you leave a comment on the Site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These exist for your convenience, so you don’t have to re-enter your details when leaving another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we also set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen option cookies last a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the Site — including pages visited, time on page, referring site, and general location and device information. This data is aggregated and used to improve content and site performance. See Google’s own Privacy Policy for how Google Analytics handles data.
6. Advertising
ItsMagz displays ads through Google AdSense and may use other advertising networks. Google and its partners use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
7. Affiliate Links and Tracking
ItsMagz participates in affiliate marketing programs. Links to affiliate partners use tracking cookies, set by the affiliate network or retailer rather than by us directly, to attribute purchases back to ItsMagz. See our Affiliate Disclosure page for more on how and where these links appear.
8. Embedded Content from Other Websites
Articles on the Site may include embedded content (for example, videos, images, or articles from other sites). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited that other website directly.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content — including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
9. Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.
Beyond this, we share data with:
- Service providers who help operate the Site — for example, web hosting, email delivery, and payment processing (once the shop is live)
- Advertising partners — Google AdSense and affiliate networks, as described in Sections 6 and 7
- Spam detection services — visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service
- Legal and regulatory authorities, where required by applicable law, court order, or to protect our legal rights
We do not sell your personal data. Some service providers (for example, Google) may process or store data outside India; where this occurs, we rely on the provider’s own compliance mechanisms and data transfer safeguards.
10. How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments, rather than holding every comment in a moderation queue.
If users register on the Site (if applicable), we also store the personal information provided in their user profile. Registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except they cannot change their username. Site administrators can also see and edit that information.
Order and transaction data (once the shop is live) is retained as long as necessary for accounting, tax, and legal compliance purposes.
11. Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Depending on the tools we use, this may involve transmitting comment data to a third-party service outside India.
12. Purchases
This section applies once the ItsMagz book shop is live.
We collect name, billing/shipping address, email, and order details to process and fulfill orders. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment processor and are not stored on our servers.
13. What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on the Site, or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data we are obliged to retain for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Depending on your location, you may also have the right to correct inaccurate data, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example, a newsletter subscription), and object to or restrict certain processing.
For users in India: these rights are provided in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You may exercise these rights, or raise a grievance, by contacting our Grievance Officer at privacy@itsmagz.com
For users in the EU/UK or other jurisdictions: you may have additional rights under applicable local law (for example, GDPR). Use the contact details in Section 17 to make a request.
14. Children’s Privacy
ItsMagz is not directed at individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us so we can delete it.
15. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes take effect immediately upon posting the revised Policy, with an updated “Last updated” date. Significant changes may be communicated via a notice on the Site.
